As summer has come to a close and we realize cold weather is approaching we take a minute to remember some of the silly and emotional days of summer.Goodbye warm weather….we hardly knew you…
This is Dion and I. He’s giving us the Zoolander pose. Leave it to Dion to make the picture “unique.
Jasmine Fell down and hurt her knee at the park. Not even the idea of being of camera could make her perk up. How sad….
This is Dion and the kids with their best “silly faces”.

There has been so much that has happened since April. We have become aware more
than ever of God’s unfailing love and goodness for His children. The biggest thing is that Dion got another job, better than the one he lost! God is truly faithful! The rest of our summer has been filled with excitement and unexpected blessings. Here are a few pics of our very Big summer adventure.
So we take it one day at a time. Today is Dion’s last day of work. In this time we are reminded of God’s goodness once again the the Psalms….
Psalm 118:24-29 (New Living Translation)
24 This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Please, Lord, please save us. Please, Lord, please give us success.
26 Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord. 27 The Lord is God, shining upon us. Take the sacrifice and bind it with cords on the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will praise you! You are my God, and I will exalt you!
29 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.
There’s still no concrete news as of yet about Dion’s job. But despite everything God has granted us with so much amazing grace. How you may ask? Well I’ll tell you… Yesterday was filled with a lot scrambling around to change/ cancel doc appts. since we knew the end of the month was his last day of work with his company and we are not sure about when his insurance benefits stop. Either way we didn’t want to have any extra medical bills to pay. I called our dentist to cancel our appts. that were coming up. I explained to the receptionist what was going on and she said”we just had 4 cancellations we can fit you all in later on today.” So our entire family was able to have our dental visits before Dion’s benefits expire. I had similar calls to make for other appt. and I was always met with compassion and kindness. One receptionist said to me “hang in there honey, It’s gonna be all right. When a door closes the good Lord opens a window.” That was encouraging to me because she didn’t know me but she felt it necessary to be encouraging. I am convinced there is still much good in the world. Later on I had to take Jasmine to get her dreaded “lab work” done. Every 3 months Jasmine has her blood drawn and it had never been a good experience, something about 7 year olds and needles just don’t mix. But this time was different, she didn’t cry on the way to the lab or even when she got her blood drawn, not to mention they missed the vein (which often happens) and had to do it again. God had given her grace and strength to endure that moment of pain. Later on some offers for some small side jobs came in for Dion until God gives us something more permanent. There are more instances but the bottom line is that in a 24 hour period we have experienced God’s unyielding favor and love in action from family, friends and complete strangers. There is a verse that comes to mind that sums it all up.
John 15:5-8 (New International Reader’s Version)
5 “I am the vine. You are the branches. If anyone remains joined to me, and I to him, he will bear a lot of fruit. You can’t do anything without me.
6 If anyone does not remain joined to me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and dries up. Branches like those are picked up. They are thrown into the fire and burned.
7 “If you remain joined to me and my words remain in you, ask for anything you wish. And it will be given to you. 8 When you bear a lot of fruit, it brings glory to my Father. It shows that you are my disciples.
Well this is our journey and our goal is to document as much of it as we can. This means the ups and the downs.
To make a complicated story as short as possible I’ll just give the basic overview. On last Thursday Dion found out that he would no longer be employed by his current contactor, his last day of work is April 30th. He decided to go with another company who is working on the same project, but when he applied for the job he found that his current employer was not keeping up their paperwork properly which is a problem because he needs up to date paperwork to make the transition to his new employer. Updating this “paperwork” takes 3 to 6 months. So…. what happens May 1st? Where will Dion work? That is something only God knows. But here’s what we do know…
David said in Psalms 37: 23-25
23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. 24 Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.
25 Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. 26 The godly always give generous loans to others, and their children are a blessing.
Even more simply put we will continue to give and to be a blessing, and as God uses this season to grow our character we will remember the observations of David in the Psalms as we wait for our breakthrough.
I can’t express enough the importance of prayer and Godly council when making a life changing decision. We are so thankful for the Godly friends God has placed in our lives.
Today Dion applied for a job with another company. We pray that we are in the center of God’s will for our lives and I guess we shall soon find out.
Meanwhile, the debt snowball is going good and next month we will no longer have a car payment! Praise God!!! That’s more money to put towards the snowball. Bit by bit…. little by little, we’re on our way!
Camiryn’s best gift of the night.
Everyone loves a good game of Operation.
We’ll be cleaning silly string for days…..
Camiryn had a superhero themed sleepover for his 6th birthday. It was madness but Dion is so great with kids. I hope Camiryn remembers this for a loooong time! I’m sure Dion wont forget the taste of silly string in his mouth or the burn of it in his eyes! Overall it was a great night.
Camiryn amazed by amphibians.
The kids “exploring” the hiking trail.
Jada seeing things through another animals eyes.
All 3 attempting to stay still long enough for Mom to get “just 1 good picture”.
Today we went to Powder Valley Nature Valley Center. The kids had a great time! We will go back again when the weather gets nicer. Needless to say after all the exploring and nature hike everyone came home and took a nice nap!
Dion and I, got married and lived abroad in Japan for 4 years. When we finally moved back to the United States we found ourselves living in D.C. metro area . Along with 2 children and 1 on the way, not to mention 1 income and a lot of DEBT… Needless to say there was a lot more struggling…Fast forward to 2007 we have $60,000.00 in debt, not including our home. We were trying in our own best efforts to come up with a plan to get out of debt but to no avail, we kept falling back into the same patterns and bad habits. Finally, our church was hosting a get out of debt class and we attend it. It was the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace Class. At the end of the class we had a clear vision on how to meet our God given and personal goals and dreams. We are now at the $40,000.00 mark.
We see many things for the future of this family including generating wealth for the body of Christ, but our next goal after we’re out of debt is to add to our family through adoption!
We intend to pay off our remaining $40,000.00 of debt and then start saving up for our adoption.
We will pay for this adoption with cash! No more loans for us!
What about our mortgage? Well we plan to have that payed off in the next 12 years.
There you have it! This may take a while but we know it’ll be so worth it to see the dreams that God has placed in our hearts come to pass. We believe with all our hearts this just the beginning!
We are stepping out with God leading the charge! Always remember…We can do everything through Christ, who gives us strength. Philippians 4:13. (We’ll try and remember that too, along the way. )
